I can still remember the lonely summers of my youth spent friendless here at the Hall. “Why?” I used to cry to Mater “Why do the other children openly mock me for the things that I say, think and do?!”
“Now there little one” Mater would used to say “Every cloud has a silver lining”, and it’s true! Fast- forward 60 years and I have no birthdays to remember, no Christmas presents to buy and no friends constantly ringing me while I try to watch repeats of Qi on the tele-vision.
However, it is also true that every silver lining has a cloud- take the offer of free wifi for the Olympics on every tube platform. It has a DARKER SIDE, as articulated by Dave 66:
Great, this should help Al-Qaeda a treat. And then when someone detonates a tube train we can give him a pathetic prison sentence and a council house for their 4 wives and 21 children, all paid for out of my taxes. What's happened to this country?
The whole reason London’s so safe at the moment is it ISN’T riddled with wifi, that suicide bombers can use to remotely donate their charges!
It’s yet another reason to stay away from London during the Olympics or at any time, and to you, Dave66, I owe you my life, and a slap-up dinner at Cuntington Hall.
