And so it is that some silly, messy woman gets fired from Harrods for refusing to wear makeup and the Feminazis all start burning their bras. Thank god for Liz Jones, who argues stridently against women ever not wearing make-up. And so we go once more into the breach as Liz says...
“Women who feel no compunction to improve what nature bestowed upon them are, in my experience, arrogant, lazy or deluded, and frequently all three.”
Wearing even a little make-up shows respect to others, demonstrating on the outside that you are professional, a stickler for detail, someone who doesn't cut corners."
Really? If you can tell that much just by the face, imagine what a powersuit does for you!
“Look at Christine Lagarde, the new head of the International Monetary Fund, in her Hermes and Chanel. I see a woman who has organised her life impeccably, not someone who is either frivolous or permanently frazzled.
Why does a young woman think her desire to show us her open pores and ruddy complexion outweighs the wishes of her employer to present a polished face to the customer?”
I must say I am taken aback by Ms Jones’ forthright and logical examination of this issue and YES, Ms Stark, you may have been described by your line manager as one of the store’s best employees, but you are in fact frivolous and frazzled, and you have pores in your skin and you are ruddy and until you look less like this
and more like this
then you will not be invited to work for minimum wage.
What a fantastic post, and what a superb portrait of Ms Jones, my favourite journalist (after Mel Phillips, natch, and Jan Moir). She really does look delicious - so beautiful, so natural, such a terrific example of the equine form.
ReplyDeleteI just can't take my eyes off the picture of Liz Jones- her natural eyebrows, her professional jowls. I must paint her.
